Reviews
I’ve been to many spas both more low key and high end. I wished I read more reviews and believed them before I went. The environment isn’t very relaxing. It feels more like a gym sauna. The environment doesn’t feel super clean, but instead outdated and dirty. There aren’t that many activities or places to even sit and relax. When you do your scrub and massage, it’s in a communal space. I’ve never had a $150 massage in a communal space before. They limit you to 3 hours total at the spa even if you paid for the full service. At the end of the day, I think my body feels relaxed, but the actual massage and scrub was SO painful and rough. I didn’t feel relaxed during my time at all tbh. For the price of going here, I don’t think it’s worth it. Maybe if it were cheaper? There are better options nearby!
Ocean Seaweed Scrub - First let me say I absolutely LOVED this treatment!
Second please read the entire review.
I was a bit hesitant to book a treatment here after reading several of the reviews so I came onsite the day before to book this treatment. The facility is older but extremely clean and has all the amenities you would expect to find at a bathhouse/spa. I think the disconnect for some is the differences between a bathhouse vs spa. This is a true proper bathhouse.
This treatment came with a full body scrub, massage, facial, hair wash, etc. You are expected to be fully nude (No Swimsuits) as in a proper for bathhouses.
The lady doing my treatment was perfect however this isn’t a spa. She asked several times if I was ok but checking in on pressure or asking if water temperature was not asked nor expected. All this to say if something makes you uncomfortable or if you need something adjusted you need to be vocal enough to speak up.
There is also the culture and language barrier which I think some have considered to be rude. It is not in-fact they are very pleasant but not a lot of pleasantries.
Be sure to bring cash for tipping your person if you receive a treatment. They do allow you to use facilities for 3hrs with a treatment but that also includes your treatment time.
This is a proper Korean Bathhouse. Again I loved it but I like less pleasantries and more treatments. I enjoy deep tissue type treatments with organic natural products.
Finally the location is on a busy street across from a lovely park. Coming from downtown does require you to go through the most unsafe areas of San Francisco so I would highly recommend taking a car. I mention this because I do like walking in the city to take in the sites this is not the walk to take.
What a Wonderful Space for Deep Relaxation and Rejuvenation. The ladies take such meticulous care of this place. It was my first experience in a Himalayan Salt Room and what an Amazing Experience. Truly Healing. The wet herbal sauna is powerful and ultra cleansing
Only small recommendation- a slightly more gentle warm light in the wet sauna
Thank you!
First timer here! And it was just ok- the reviews you read are correct. I got Massage and Scrub combo for $150. It was a disjointed experience- there was no direction on what to do or where to go from the minute I walked through the door. Towels stink, relaxation rooms are tiny and there isn’t much space for multiple people.
The scrub and massage were disjointed- she did parts on one side but forgot to do it on the other side. I as never fully relaxed as she didn’t really read my body- at times I was seriously in pain. So, coupled with the fact that I had no idea what I was doing or meant to do, in between rolling over and moving around, it just never felt relaxing.
The Most Disappointing part was I sat patiently by the clock waiting for my #, the lady finally “found” me (she past me twice)… started 10 minutes late and ended early- meaning she didn’t compensate for the full massage timeframe.
Then I was bullied at the checkout desk, told that I was wrong and that I must tip.
This was my birthday gift to myself and it was lack luster- never again at this location.
Wanted to check out massages, scrubs and the amenities but when I arrived this place was quite dated and the towels have a stinky stench to them like they were not washed with good detergent. The space is so small. It’s $40 for a few hours (3 hours)One of the workers was laid out sleep on the couch. The staff was very nice but Unfortunately I won’t be back.
Service is always impeccable. I had the accupressure massage and it was divine and highly needed.y masseuse walked on my back and it was great! The facilities are always clean and calming. Highly recommend if you're not looking for frills but want the main services you go for at Korean spas
First walking in was pleasant. The lady at the front was nice. I went in with my friend she greeted us and than we paid to use the facility it's about $40 per person. There is a lady and gentleman side that are separate. They take cash and credit which was convenient. The facility for the gentleman side was decent. When walking in the men spa you'll see slippers on shelves to put on. Lockers are locked with a digital lock pad which is connected to your wrist band. ( That I love) also there are a few couches you can sit to relax a bit and restroom that were clean, and the vanity area was open and wide I believe at least 4-5 people can fit in the area. The facility in the main room was small but good. To the right side you have the standing showers and left you have the sitting down station to rinse yourself off. Than to the main attraction. They have 1 Jacuzzi and 1 cold pludge, a steam room and sauna which can probably fit at least 4-5 people each time. Their is also a exfoliate table service to can purchase before you enter the spa. I'm not sure about the price. There is about 2 bench where you can sit and cool off is you get to warm. Everyone is a bit quiet and keep to themselves. Though I wish people in there were a bit talkative cause I enjoy talking sometimes and when it gets to quiet get a bit weird cause sometimes just being quiet and looking at the wall makes me feel a bit awkward. Al in all great experience wish they had a membership program that is affordable cause I would like to enjoy it more if it were in my budget . Hope this helps for first timers please enjoy
The most amazing experience of my life! I took my sister for her birthday, we did the Ocean Breeze body wrap and were delighted by the value, experience, and venue. Be sure to go early to use the spas and saunas. The spa treatment includes a scrub, a deep massage, foil lotion wrap, and hair wash. I can’t wait for a return trip!
